Install Ryujinx Canary on Steam Deck

Treat Steam Deck as a Linux x64 device and start in Desktop Mode.

Most users: x64 AppImage

Start with the recommended package unless your device or operating system clearly requires another asset.

Install steps

Follow these steps after you have picked the matching package.

  1. Download the Linux x64 AppImage, not an ARM64 asset.
  2. Open Desktop Mode and mark the AppImage as executable.
  3. Launch the AppImage once from Desktop Mode before adding shortcuts.
  4. If a dialog cannot be clicked in Game Mode, return to Desktop Mode.
  5. Keep Stable available if the newest Canary causes a Deck-specific problem.

Before first launch

These checks prevent most wrong-file and first-open problems.

  • Steam Deck is x64, so ARM64 assets are not the right target.
  • Desktop Mode is easier for first launch and file permission prompts.
